I'm Nish and Art has been a part of me for as long as I can remember, a passion that took root when I was just ten years old. On a quiet, sunlit afternoon, my father, an incredibly talented artist sat beside me as I doodled, and said, “Let me teach you how to draw.” With effortless strokes, he sketched a girl, each line adding depth and beauty. I watched in awe, completely enchanted. That was the moment I fell in love with art.
As I grew, art became my sanctuary, a world of its own, where I could escape and create freely. While school never captivated me, some of my most cherished memories are of sitting outside in summer, beneath the shade of a towering oak, painting as the wind whispered through the trees. But like many passions, life swept me away, and for years, I lost touch with the creative world that once felt like home.
I tried my hand at other forms of creativity, DIY projects, cooking, baking, and cake decorating, but painting remained that dream lingering in the background, a longing I never quite pursued. Then, life took an unexpected turn. When COVID struck, I faced a challenging health battle, one that left me feeling lost, detached, and unmotivated. For the longest time, I blamed my condition for my disinterest in life as it was easier that way.
Then one day, I stumbled upon a video of an artist, Jilly Kube, using a technique called acrylic pouring. As I watched, something stirred within me. “I could do this,” I thought. And for the first time in years, I took a chance. I bought the cheapest paints, canvases, and glue I could find, and dove in. It was messy, technical, and far more difficult than it looked, but I loved every minute of it.
As I continued exploring, I discovered other artists using the same technique, each with their own style. I learned new methods, refined my approach, and grew more daring with my materials and choices. Soon, my curiosity expanded beyond acrylic pouring and I became fascinated by abstract art, textured work, and geode-inspired designs. The deeper I dove, the more my creativity flourished.
Through the work of Tammy Anderson, I uncovered what truly speaks to me: crafting rich, layered backgrounds and adding intricate details that bring them to life. This is my style, my passion, and my creative language. Every painting is a journey, a fusion of colour, depth, and movement that tells a story.
Art brought me back to life. It reminded me of who I am, of
the world I’d once lost myself in. And now, I create to share that feeling; the
energy, the escape, and the magic that art has always given me.
